An evening of kids races, culminating with fireworks on the beach, will be held on July 13.
BELMAR, NJ — The 42nd annual Belmar Five Mile Run will be held on Saturday morning, July 14, beginning at Silver Lake Park.
Billed as one of the longest-running road races on the Jersey Shore, the run is presented by Belmar’s Goodwill Hose Company, in conjunction with the Borough of Belmar and the Jersey Shore Running Club. The event is a major fundraiser for the all-volunteer Goodwill Hose Company, and Belmar’s junior lifeguards will also receive a contribution this year, as well as a host of other local soccer teams and running clubs.
More than 3,500 participants are expected to run the course, which starts at 8:30 a.m. at the lake along Fifth Avenue and proceeds south down Ocean Avenue to Lake Como. Runners will then return back to Silver Lake Park.
The event will also offer refreshments, random prize drawings, and a health and vendor fair in Silver Lake Park at Ocean and Fifth Avenues. A post-race beach arty will be held at Bar Anticipation, 16th Avenue, Lake Como. All registrants receive a free T-shirt, and medals are awarded to all finishers.
The Belmar Five is the second event of the Jersey Shore Golden Grand Prix, a series of races sponsored by McLoone’s held throughout the summer. For more information, visit www.jsgrandprix.com
