HACKENSACK, NJ - The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office announced the arrest of Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Correction Officer Jessica Stec, 28, of Elmwood Park on Friday.   The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information on September 9, 2019, that the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office received complaints about Stec’s conduct in the Bergen County Jail. An investigation by members of the Bergen Country Prosecutor's Office Confidential Investigations Unit and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that information and found evidence that Stec obstructed a governmental function and provided contraband to an inmate in the jail.

Stec was suspended from duty on September 13, 2019. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office issued a summons to Stec charging her with one count of Obstructing Administration Of Law Or Other Governmental Function, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29-1(a), a disorderly persons offense; and one count of Implements For Escape; Other Contraband, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29-6, a petty disorderly persons offense. She is scheduled for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ on October 10, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.
