Bridge and Tunnel Updates for Weekend Travels

NEW YORK/NEW JERSEY -- The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is alerting drivers of the following traffic updates for the weekend. 

Lane closings are planned for the Bayonne Bridge, George Washington Bridge and the Holland Tunnel this weekend and/or next week for ongoing construction and repair projects.

Bayonne Bridge:

  • The bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, April 27, through 3 p.m. Sunday, April 29, for ongoing construction work.

Holland Tunnel:

  • One westbound lane in the tunnel will be closed during overnight hours from Sunday, April 29, through Thursday, May 3, from 11:59 p.m. each night through 5:30 a.m. the following morning.  The closings are needed for ongoing tunnel repairs.
  • One eastbound lane in the tunnel will be closed during overnight hours from Sunday, April 29, through Thursday, May 3, from 11 p.m. each night through 5 a.m. the following morning.  The closings are needed for ongoing tunnel repairs.

 George Washington Bridge:

  • Two lanes on the bridge’s upper level eastbound side will be closed from 10 p.m. Saturday, April 28, through 10 a.m. Sunday, April 29.
  • Two lanes on the eastbound upper Trans-Manhattan Expressway will be closed from 12:01 a.m. through 8 a.m. Sunday, April 29.
  • One lane on the bridge’s lower level eastbound side will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday, April 27, through 8 a.m. Saturday, April 28.
  • The bridge’s lower level westbound side will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, April 27, through 10 a.m. Saturday, April 28, and again from 10 p.m. Saturday, April 28, through 10 a.m. Sunday, April 29.
  • The left lane on the Palisades Interstate Parkway north ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. Sunday, April 29, through 4 a.m. Monday, April 30.
