HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - Summer softball requires a lot of travel.  Travel to practices, travel to tournaments, teams that are a collection of players from all over.  It is a time to improve your skills, play against top competition, and get ready for next year.

Julia Campen and her teammates on the Akadema Elite 18U team travel to Myrtle Beach to face off against teams from around the East and the South in the Triple Crown Nationals on Wednesday through Sunday.  The Elite’s first game in pool play in the tournament will be against the Chaos Showcase, from Glen’s Mills, Pa. The Atlanta Premier Gold, from McDonough, Ga, and the Carolina Comes Elite 18U Stanley, NC, round out the rest of their bracket.

Campen, a pitcher/first baseman,  has been a bright spot on the team, batting .469 while compiling a 5-6 record, with a 2.60 earned run average, and picking up one save.  Based out of Ringwood, NJ, Campen is the only Hasbrouck Heights or Wood-RIdge player on the team.

Campen was 4-0 on the mound for the Aviators this season, with a 0.82 earned run average.  The starting first baseman, she was First Team All-NJIC Meadowlands Division, hitting .389 with two home runs and 30 runs batted in for the North 1, Group 1 sectional runners up.
