According to the complaint, Colaneri Sr. is being charged with a “disorderly persons offense” under N.J.S.A 2C:12-1A(s). He is accused of shoving his son-in-law into a dresser, causing his son-in-law to hit his spine against the dresser and causing head to come in contact with a television.

The incident, which had been first reported in the Bergen Record, had been under investigation since then.   On August 22, 2019, probable cause was found to exist as to a complaint of simple assault which complaint has yet to be adjudicated. Pursuant to NJSA 40A:14‐149 and for other good cause suspension with pay is appropriate pending disposition of said charges, according to the notice of disciplinary action.

Hasbrouck Heights was informed of the results of the investigation during the week, and acted on Thursday.

Chandless declined further comment regarding the matter.
