WOOD-RIDGE, NJ -  Heading in the right direction.  That was the message from Wood-Ridge Head Football Coach Charlie Trentacosti kept coming back to following the Blue Devils scrimmage on Friday with Montclair Kimberley Academy

“We have a few things to fix up but I am happy with the way they worked,” Trentacosti said. “We worked real hard, and that is our job, every week work hard to get better.  And each week we are getting a little bit better.  That is all we can ask.“

On the field, Wood-Ridge looked relatively sharp, getting the better end of the scrimmage with the Cougars, whom Trentacosti praised after the scrimmage.

“They are solid team, they usually make the playoffs in their group each year“ Trentacosti said. “They are well-coached, they are usually ahead of everything, it is nice to see them come and play every year.”

Trentacosti was pleased by the progress his team is making.

“We have a lot to still learn, but we have two weeks to go, which is positive, we are moving in the right direction, “ he stated.  “The team is doing really well, everyone is working in the right direction.”

The Blue Devils open at Wallington on September 9.

While not one to say that one part of the team was ahead of the other, Trenacosti did praise the work of his senior class.

“We have a tremendous group of seniors, tremendous leaders, they are doing a great job at leading at the team, which is great thing for our team.”
