TRENTON, NJ - Governor Phil Murphy announced the latest COVID-19 figures from around the state during his Friday afternoon press conference where he denounced the two gunmen who fired on the home of two Camden County police officers while their newborn baby was inside. He also touted the new legislation he signed Friday morning that requires the New Jersey Dept. of Environmental Protection (DEP) to evaluate the environmental and public health impacts of certain facilities on overburdened communities when reviewing certain permit applications.

In New Jersey, there were 519 new cases reported, with five new deaths. Statewide, there are 198,848 positive cases and 14,270 deaths, and 1,791 probable COVID-19 fatalities.  

Bergen County Executive James Tedesco announced that there are 22,153 positive cases in the county as of 12 pm Friday. According to Tedesco, Hasbrouck Heights has 218 cases, Wood-Ridge has 155 cases, and Teterboro has 7 cases. The county has recorded 1,801 deaths, per Tedesco.

According to Murphy, Bergen County has 22,119 positive cases, and followed by Essex (20,773), Hudson (20,454), Middlesex (19,016), Passaic (18,774) with 314 under investigation.  

As of 10 p.m. Thursday, there were 413 people hospitalized, 221 patients who tested positive, and another 192  under investigation. There were with 73 patients in ICU and 36 on ventilators.
