WOOD-RIDGE, NJ - Kassie Ketcho had 30 points as the Hasbrouck Heights girl’s team defeated Wood-Ridge, 48-35, in an NJIC Meadowlands Division game at Wood-Ridge High School Thursday evening.  The Lady Aviators got off to a slow start, trailing 13-3 at the end of the first quarter.  

Wood-Ridge’s Jenna Castellanos and Amanda Dimase combined for nine of the Lady Blue Devils points in the first quarter, leading Wood-Ridge to their early lead. 

Ketcho led the Aviators comeback effort, scoring 12 of the Aviators’ 15 points in the second quarter. The Aviators were able to shut down the Wood-Ridge offense in the quarter as well, limiting them to a basket and taking an 18-17 lead at the half.

The Aviator defense continued to shut down the Bleu Devils in the third quarter, once again outscoring Wood-Ridge 15-2 in building a 33-17 lead going into the fourth.  

Wood-Ridge tried to shoot themselves back into the game in the fourth scoring all of their points on three-pointers, but were only able to outscore the Lady Aviators 18-15, as Heights held on for the 48-35 victory.

“I have to credit the girls' hustle and staying with the game plan for tonight’s victory” said Hasbrouck Heights head coach Amanda Minervini.  “When we were down 13-3 after one quarter, we could have quit.  But we stuck with it, hustled and played defense, and were able to pull it out.

“Plus Kassie had a great game, scoring, defense and rebounding.”

Ketcho continued her offensive assualt in the second half., pouring in eight points in both the third and fourth quarters.

Catherine Castellanos chipped in with eight points for the Aviators. 

Wood-Ridge’s Natalie Cala had nine points, all on three pointers in the fourth quarter to lead teh Blue Devils.
