TRENTON, NJ - Governor Phil Murphy released the latest COVID-19 figures from around the New Jersey during his Thursday afternoon press conference where he said the "second wave is coming now" and reiterated his message for residents to "double down" on social distancing, hand washing and mask wearing.
There were 1,477 new cases reported, with eight new deaths. Statewide, there are 234,547 positive cases and 14,539 deaths, and 1,793 probable COVID-19 fatalities.
As of 10 p.m. Wednesday, there were 1,072 people hospitalized, 846 testing positive and 226 under investigation. There were 217 patients in ICU and 79 on ventilators.
According to Murphy, Bergen County has 25,027 positive cases, and followed by Essex (24,709), Hudson (23,132), Middlesex (22,274), Passaic (20,898), and 524 under investigation.
Seven counties have reported over 100 new cases. Essex County has the highest with 241, followed by Hudson (162), Bergen (141), Union (131), Middlesex (121), Passaic (111), and Monmouth (105.)
