HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ -- The Hasbrouck Heights 5th/6th grade Junior Division team defeated Wood-Ridge Monday evening, 9-2, to win the South Bergen Girls’ Softball League Championship.

This division was made up of seven teams from area towns including  Hasbrouck Heights (3), Wood-Ridge (2), Carlstadt (1) and East Rutherford (1.)

According to manager Sue McGuire, six players will move up to 7th/8th grade team next year.  Five of the girls were on last year’s 3rd/4th grade championship team.

"As a team, we set a goal at our very first practice - to get to the championship game and win it all for Hasbrouck Heights," said McGuire "Through hard work and dedication our goal became our reality. Coaching amazing girls like this makes it all the more fun. Expect big things from these amazing athletes!"

The team is managed by Susan McGuire, who is assisted by coaches Tim McGuire, Rob and Caitlin Riordan, Brian Monchino, and Jeff Haines.
