HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - Hitchcock Field was the host site of the Annual South Bergen Soccer League U10/D5 Playoff Tournament last weekend.  The tournament consisted of teams from Hasbrouck Heights, Carlstadt, North Arlington, and Rutherford.  All teams play in a round robin qualification round that was based on regular season results.  

The competition in the girls' tournament was intense and the final four teams were #1 East Rutherford Bellavia Chevrolet, #2 North Arlington Sandra's Hair Design, #3 Hasbrouck Heights Houlihan's and #4 North Arlington City Tropics.

In the semi-finals, top ranked East Rutherford defeated North Arlington City Tropics, and North Arlington Sandra's Hair Design defeated Hasbrouck Heights.

North Arlington went on to upset East Rutherford 6-0 to win the championship.

On the boys side, the competition was fierce and the final four teams were #1 Hasbrouck Heights DCH Montclair #2Hasbrouck Heights Quench Irrigation, #3 Hasbrouck Heights Kouletas Painting and #4 East Rutherford/East Rutherford Roofing.

In the semi-final round. Hasbrouck Heights DCH Montclair defeated East Rutherford/East Rutherford Roofing and Hasbrouck Heights Quench Irrigation  was defeated by Hasbrouck Heights Kouletas Painting.

The finals saw a battle of two Hasbrouck Heights teams, as Hasbrouck Heights DCH Montclair defeated Hasbrouck Heights Kouletas Painting. 7-2 to win the championship.

"We want the kids to get the experience of playing in a fun tournament," said Michael Karcic, president of the Hasbrouck Heights Soccer Association.   "Tournaments can be a great time to teach the kids the great game of soccer as well as having a great day playing the sport.  It teaches the kids how vital endurance and patience is part of the game."
