HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - Hasbrouck Heights again hosted a mobile COVID testing program on Tuesday run by Bergen County. The borough hosted the mobile COVID testing program in late June.
Staff and volunteers arrived at 8am to set up in the parking lot of Depken Field. Construction on townhomes at the end of Oldfield Avenue prevented the event from being held in the parking lot of the swim club. It is the fourth of six weeks that mobile community testing program will be available in the fall.
According to Michele DiIorgi, Chief of Staff to Bergen County Executive James Tedesco, they saw an early wave of attendees Tuesday morning. Most people came for the testing, she noted. They offer 1,000 flu shots and 500 saliva test per day. The quadrivalent flu shot is available for those over 18 years old.
The Bergen County Regional Community Testing Program is run in partnership between the County of Bergen and Bergen New Bridge Medical Center. All sites will offer COVID-19 saliva tests and flu vaccinations.
DiIorgo reminded residents to "be vigilant" and continue to practice social distancing, sanitizing, washing hands and wearing masks.
“To win the fight against COVID-19, wide availability and easy access to testing must become part of our new normal," said Bergen County Executive James Tedesco. "As we brace for a potential second wave of the virus, it is more important than ever to continue our mobile program which will now also offer the flu shot for all Bergen County residents free of charge. Please help keep Bergen County safe by visiting one of our mobile locations. For upcoming locations and to pre-register, visit www.BergenCovidTesting.com.”
