HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - A Hasbrouck Heights resident shot and killed himself early Thursday evening in his home.   The resident, reported to be a former Jersey City Police Officer, died by a gunshot wound, according to other reporting.

Local police and Bergen County SWAT responded to the call after his wife called the police when the victim threatened suicide. Residents reported that the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department blocked off several nearby streets.
