HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ – Here’s a round-up of stories that readers may have missed during the week. They cover a cross-section of topics including town and school news, a volunteer effort for veterans, What You Missed and lots of sports.

TAPinto provided parents back to school safety tips and reminded parents at Lincoln School about the new street closures and traffic patterns for morning drop offs. Wood-Ridge named a new principal for the Junior/Senior High School. Plus, Hasbrouck Heights and Wood-Ridge School Districts were named to the 2018 Safest School Districts in New Jersey according to niche.com

The Hasbrouck Heights Chamber of Commerce announced the new date for the fourth annual Taste of Hasbrouck Heights to be held at the VFW. The Hasbrouck Heights Marching Band  and color guard will sport new uniforms for the first time in over ten years. In the community, over 40 volunteers including the Paramus Catholic High School ice hockey team and Hasbrouck Heights Girl Scouts, assembled 300 Warrior Bead keychains for Vietnam veterans and Gold Star families.

The start of school brought the start of fall sports. TAPinto offered football preview for both Hasbrouck Heights and Wood-Ridge football offense and defense, Wood-Ridge girls’ and boys’ soccer teams, defending NJIC Champions Hasbrouck Heights football home opener, the home opener for the junior football program and an upcoming 3-on-3 basketball tournament. BRANT BEACH - The Long Beach Island Shuttle, an extremely popular service for visitors and residents of Long Beach Island, will have a fee for the first time beginning Memorial Day weekend.
