HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ -- Hasbrouck Heights Little League hosted its annual end-of-year picnic on Saturday at the Hasbrouck Heights Little League complex. The annual event featured inflatable games, food and baseball challenges.
The annual picnic is open to current players and families in the organization. Members of the Executive Board grilled hamburgers and hot dogs throughout the day. Cold drinks and snow cones kept everyone cool.
Again this year the Skills Competition was open to all 12-year olds who spent their final year in the league. The Home Run Derby was open to 12-year olds who hit at least one homer during the year.
Six players qualified for the Home Run Derby. In Round 1, each batter got 10 swings at a pitch. The top hitters moved to Round 2. The player with the most home runs after round two was the winner. Gavin Fiant was captured first with seven home runs, and Max Castro was second with four.
The Skills Competition was open to all 12-year olds in the league. There were five categories: Base Running, Most Accurate Throw, Pop Flies, Bunting, and Hitting. The top skills winners were:
Base Running: Anthony Peterson
Most Accurate Thrown: Frankie Billings
Pop Flies: Evan Werner
Bunting: Anthony Peterson
Hitting: Anthony Peterson
