HACKENSACK, NJ - Bergen Catholic jumped out to an early lead as they defeated Bergen Tech, 11-1, Monday afternoon in the season opener for both teams.

Bergen Catholic took a 1-0 lead in the first inning before putting the game away with a seven run second inning, roughing up Bergen Tech starter Michael Costanzo.  Tim Porfido came on in relief was roughed up for three runs in 1 2/3rds innings.  

Ryan Jordan had two hits for Bergen Tech, while Brody Hansen (Hasbrouck Heights) had a hit off the bench and pitched a scoreless fifth inning, striking out one, as the Knights lone bright spots on the day.
