WEEHAWKEN, NJ - Wood-Ridge jumped on Weehawken for five runs in the top the first, sending 11 hitters to the plate, and never looked back, beating the Indians 15-3 in an NJIC Meadowlands Division baseball game Monday afternoon in Weehawken.
Liam Winslow led off with a triple and scored on Drew Packen’s single. Lucas Leone singled, followed by a Ryan Connelly single to load the bases. Eric Drotos singled in the game’s second run. Jack Barteck hit a sacrifice fly to left for a 3-0 as Weehawken finally recorded an out. Christian Jones singled, reloading the bases.
Following Stephen Crandall’s strikeout, Jake Colon walked in the inning’s fourth run, and as the lineup turned over, Winslow’s single made the score 5-0.
Winslow allowed a run in the second, as Weehawken cut the lead to 5-1, and managed to shut down the the Blue Devils offense for a few innings. But after a two-run fifth, and a single run in the sixth, Wood-Ridge’s offense once again erupted, this time scoring seven runs in the seventh for a 15-1 lead.
Winslow allowed five hits and a walk in pitching 5 ⅓ innings, picking up the win. He struck out six.
