NORTH ARLINGTON, NJ - There are some matchups that you know going in that the odds are stacked against you. Thursday that was Hasbrouck Heights fate as they faced the NJIC leader. Giving up over 100 pins to North Arlington entering the match, it was one of those matches for the Aviators.
Still, the Aviators did not back down from the challenge, and Hasbrouck Heights head coach Dave Rispoli found positives in the afternoon.
“North Arlington is clearly the best and strongest team in the league,” Rispoli stated. “It looks like they will be league champs. We did take one game from them last time we played them. We were hoping to do the same.”
“The first game we came close,” Rispoli stated. “Sean Reyes had a solid game. Josh Devia did a nice job filling in for Damiano (DeCandia). Johnny Parker and Jake Rosza were hot. Johnny bowled three doubles that first game and didn't have an open frame. He ended with his season high of 214."
“In the second frame, Jake started a string of 5 strikes in a row. He ended with a 211. The 689 total was our second high game of the year. We would have had a shot at winning, but (North Arlington’s) Peyton Esposito was on fire. He bowled an exceptional game. His 256 and Trent's 205 were just too much for us."
“In the second game, we bowled an average game,” Rispoli stated. “Well, except for Johnny. He bowled another great game, a 180. He was throwing a very good strike ball and made most of his spares again."
“The last game saw us succumbing to our problem area, that one low game,” Rispoli stated. “North Arlington's 794 is pretty much out of reach for us, but I am hoping that next year games like that will not be."
Rispoli praised Parker’s effort, who is coming on the last few weeks.
“Johnny now has a new high game, 214, and his 508 is a new high series,” Rispoli "It was nice seeing him set new personal bests in back to back matches.”
