WOODLAND PARK, NJ - Junior Evan Morrow captured the Boys Varsity Pod 4 5000 meters to lead Hasbrouck Heights to a convincing victory over Eastern Christian, 19-68, at the Brett Taylor Invitational at Garret Mountain in Woodland Park. Saddle Brook, with 95 points was third.
The Aviators had six of the top 9 runners in the pod, as they defeated Eastern Christian by nearly two minutes per man on average. Jake Porco finished second, Cole Sonzogni third, James Stanton sixth and Mizan Modak seventh. Andrew Oettinger, whose score was outside the top five did not count in the team scoring. He was joined by Zach Cali, who finished 15th in the Aviators varsity contingent.
Simon Sanatamaria of Wood-Ridge came in 16th and Thomas Perez came in 22nd as the Blue Devils competed as individuals in their first meet of the season.
Demir Mora of Hasbrouck Heights won the JV section of the pod, while Emre Cosgun finished 10th, and Joffre Loor came in 21th for the Aviators. Wood-Ridge’s Nigel Baltadano finished in 19th spot while Marc Altamura finished 22nd.
Isabella Drezek finished fourth for Hasbrouck Heights in the girls varsity section of Pod 4, as the Lady Aviators finished behind Pingry, 41-56, to capture second in the team scoring.
Amber Barrios (12th), Emily Estrada (13th), Hayley Kasper (20th) and Shannon Artuso (21st) were the remaining scorers for the Lady Aviators.
Callie Negro finished 9th for Wood-Ridge running as an individual.
Mandeep Kaur of Hasbrouck Heights finished 6th in the girls JV division, while AnneMarie Brown or Wood-Ridge finished ninth.
