WOOD-RIDGE, NJ - Lodi defeated Wood-Ridge 42-0 on Thursday night in the rain at Donna RIcker Field in Wood-Ridge in the season finale for both teams.
Playing in an icy rain prevented much ball movement early on as the first quarter went without a score.
Early in the second quarter Lodi broke through as fullback AJ Acensio took a short red zone pass to go up 6-0 following a missed extra point. Running back Jahmir Jennings broke free for a 68-yard run up the middle with two points tacked on and linebacker Lodi linebacker Bryan Catala took an interception from quarterback Nino Iacovino back for a touchdown. Kicker Enes Abazi converted the extra point to give the Rams a 21-0 lead going into the half.
Jennings tacked on six more insurance points with a 45-yard run, breaking numerous tackles, then changing direction to the outside with 8:11 remaining in the third quarter to go up 27-0.
The end of the third quarter continued the trend as wide receiver Aaron Moravick jumped over the defender on a fade route for a thirteen yard score from quarterback Joey Velardi. A fake extra point play saw Moravick take the pass from the holder for another two to go up 35-0.
The final score was by Christopher Diaz on a 33-yard touchdown run for a 42-0 finish.
With the win, Lodi finishes the season, 3-7. Wood-Ridge dropped to 4-6 with the loss.
