HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ -  2020 will definitely be different for both Hasbrouck Heights and Wood-Ridge this year on the football field.  Everyone knows about Wood-Ridge opening against Becton in Canton. Nick Delcalzo’s retirement is a major change for Hasbrouck Heights, as everyone awaits the announcement of the next football coach.

Under the radar is a change in how the conference will be playing football this year with the introduction of the Union Division, for schools that do not feel they can be competitive playing each other in their own division.

The decision to create the Union Division (Pal Park, Emerson, Bogota, Weehawken, Elmwood Park, and depending on whether their request to join Pal Park/Leonia, Ridgefield) has created major problems for scheduling.    In fact, the plan is, as of now, the following.

So each team will play their division mates the first five weeks of the season, with the bye week being scheduled in the first five weeks, if applicable.  Weeks 6 & 7 will be determined based on the results of the first five weeks. (If you have ever bowled in a league, think position night.) Then weeks 8 and 9 will be the NJIC Bowl Crossover series.

So the schedule looks like this, for now.
