HS Football: Wood-Ridge Keeps State Playoff Hopes Alive, 14-10

WOOD-RIDGE, NJ - Wood-Ridge kept it state football playoffs alive with a dramatic 14-10 comeback victory over Cresskill Friday night at Donna Ricker Field in Wood-Ridge.   Jake Colon's 15 yard run in the fourth quarter gave the Blue Devils the victory after Cresskill had scored earlier in the quarter.

The win improves Wood-Ridge's record to 4-3, while Cresskill fell to 4-3.  It is an important win for the Blue Devils, as they came into this weekend trailing Cresskill in the power points for the North 1, Group 1 playoffs by three points. The win will catapault them over the Cougars into the mix for the final playoff spot.

Johnoi Martin caught a 30-yard pass from Mike Giancaspro in the second quarter to give the Blue Devils a 10-7 lead at halftime.  Cresskill quarterback Mike Ferrara was a one-man show for the Cougars, accounting for all of their points, with a 12-yard run for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, and a first quarter field goal.

Wood-Ridge plays St. Mary (Rutherford) at Tamblyn Field in Rutherford next Saturday with the chance to go to the state playoffs possibly in their grasp with a win.
