WOOD-RIDGE, NJ - Senior Natalie Cala’s three pointer with 6:51 remaining gave Wood-Ridge the lead which they never relinquished, as Wood-Ridge edged Glen Rock, 31-26 in girls basketball action on Saturday. The Lady Blue Devils finished the season 14-1 with the win. Glen Rock falls to 7-4 with the loss.
Trailing 21-20 at the end of three quarters, Cala’s three pointer and a basket from Amanda DiMase gave Wood-RIdge a four point lead with five minutes remaining in the game. Glen Rock’s Aly Novick hit a three-pointer to bring the Panthers within one, 25-24, with 4::30 remaining in the game.
Samantha Eckert stretched the lead back to five with a basket with 3:05 remaining in the game. Glen Rock responded, scoring 20 seconds later on a basket from Katie Weber, to make the score 27-26.
But Wood-Ridge would not surrender another point on defense the rest of the way.
DiMase stretched the lead, hitting both ends of a one-and-one to make the lead 29-27, with 41.6 remaining. Eckert, after missing the front end of a one-and-one with 29.1 remaining, iced the game with two foul shots with 19.1 remaining.
Eckert led Wood-Ridge with 10 points, while DiMase finished with nine and Cala made two three-pointers for six points.
Weber and Novick had 10 each for Glen Rock.
