HS Tennis: Hasbrouck Heights Defeats Rutherford, 5-0

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ  -The Hasbrouck Heights boys tennis team tuned up for their showdown with Secaucus on Thursday with a 5-0 in over Rutherford.  The Aviators need to defeat Secaucus Thursday afternoon at home to capture a share of the NJIC Meadowlands title with Leonia.

Rutherford, 11-4 on the season, pushed the Aviators during the match, despite the sweep. First singles Tenzin Shakya was pushed to a 7-5 second set to win his match, while third singles Tsering Gangshar needed to go to the tie-breaker, which he won 7-4, in the second set to capture his match.

Second doubles Kyle Pfister and Nick Lorenzo needed three sets to win their match, 6-2, 3-6, 6-0.

Thursday’s match against Secuacus is at 4 pm at the Neal McCarthy Courts at Hasbrouck Heights High School.
