HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - During the Aviator Relays Thursday evening, Hasbrouck Heights inducted four more track athletes into its Wall of Fame. The wall, located on the edge of the track at the Franklin Avenue end of Depken Field, honors track athletes for their accomplishments as part of the Hasbrouck Heights High School track team.
Hasbrouck Heights Track and Field coach Rob Brady read the inductions over the public address prior to the start of the meet.
Regina Stellato, Class of 2002, 800 meters, 400 Intermediate Hurdles, Triple Jump, 4 x 400 Relay.
“Regina was one of the leaders we ever had on the best girls’ team in our program’s history. Regina ran the 800 meters (2:24.), 400 IH (67.60), tripled jumped (34’4) and ran achor on our 4 x 400 relay (61.2). Regina, at the time of her graduation ranked top 5 all time in all of her events, and held the school record in the 800 meters. Regina was a key member of 2002 girls’ team that won the county relay championship and leagued championship. She always stepped up when the team needed her most, putting the team before her individual accomplishments meet after meet. Regina is now a teacher and has coached track at Garfield High School.”
Taylor Condal, Class of 2008, Javelin, Triple Jump, 100 meters, 200 meters
“Taylor was one of the best athletes to graduate from Hasbrouck Heights High School. She competes in soccer, basketball, softball and track & field. In only two track seasons, Taylor became a great javelin thrower, triple jumper and sprinter. She held the school record in the javelin with a throw of 125’2’’. She competed at the Penn Relays in the Championship of America Javelin competition. She received a track scholarship to Towson University in Maryland. Taylor is now a teach at Lincoln Elementary School in Hasbrouck Heights.
Anthony Seidel, Class of 2013 Shot, Javelin, Discus
"Anthony had a great career as a thrower for our program and joins his older brother Jeff on our Track Wall of Fame. Anthony won over 15 major meet titles including three state group championships, two Bergen Meet of Champions titles, 4 County Group titles, and 6 League/Conference titles. Anthony competed in the javelin at the Penn Relay Championship of America competition. Anthony has three school records including the javelin (193’5”). With his other best marks (Discus - 168’6”, shot put 52’ 1.5” ) Anthony is in the mythical “400 Club” when all throws, added together” exceed 400 feet. “Anthony was a kid that always wanted to be better, he was never satisfied, and his work ethic was unmatched” stated throws coach John Valenti.”
Roland Gamez, Class of 2013, 110/55 High Hurdles, Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump
“Roland, at the time of his graduation, was the most accomplished track athlete ever in our program. He has over 40 major meet championships, including 11 league/conference titles, eight county group titles, six state sectional championships, eight Bergen Meet of Champions titles, and four state group championships. Roland hold nine indoor and six outdoor school individual and relay records. He was First Team All County six times in five different events in winter and spring track. Roland’s personal best marks 7.4 second in the 55 hurdles, 11.58 in 110 hurdles, 6’5 in the high jump, 22 feet, 8 ¾ inches in the long jump and 46 feet, 2 inches in the triple jump.
He became a ‘rock star’ to his teammates and competitors, and other coaches and officals would always say the greatest things about him as a competitor. He also represented our program with pride. Roland went to Ramapo College, continues to compete unattached in track and field meets as a decathlete.
