WOOD-RIDGE, NJ - The fifth-seeded Wood-Ridge girls volleyball team took their first step in the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 volleyball tournament defeating 12th ranked Whippany Park 25-20, 25-18 at home Tuesday afternoon. They move to the second round to play fourth ranked Cedar Grove High School on the road Thursday.

The Lady Blue Devils had an 18-13 lead in the first set behind the serving of senior Amanda DiMase. Whippany Park closed that lead 20-19, before Wood-Ridge finishing the first set 25-20.

Play in the second set was closer, with the two teams trading the lead. With the score tied 15-15, the Lady Blue Devils took the lead behind the serving of seniors Victoria Nieves, Emma Baker, and DiMase.

Leah Reiter lead the team with eight kills, 5 digs and 1 ace. Emma Baker had one kill, one dig, 10 assists, and four aces. Amanda DiMase had three kills, three digs, and three aces.
