HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ -- 14 miles to go.

After six days and 178 miles, the finish line at Harlem Hospital on Friday is that much closer for Hasbrouck Heights resident Jamie Woyce in the final leg of the MS Run the US ultra relay race. She completed 32 miles on Thursday, starting in Rockaway and finishing up in Hasbrouck Heights, accompanied by the Hasbrouck Heights High School cross country team.

Woyce, a Cliffside Park Middle School teacher, started out in Rockaway at 5am and made her way through several towns along Route 46, including Fairfield, Little Falls, Montclair and Clifton. Joining her for a few miles was Denville resident and segment 15 runner Courtney Kruse. She entered Bergen County over the bridge in Wallington and took a detour to her mother's house in East Rutherford. She was greeted by her family, neighbors, the DPW and Hasbrouck Heights team.

"Today was awesome," said Woyce. "The neighbors came out, the peopole around the block, even the DPW trucks were honking their horns. It's was really fun."

Woyce noted that Thursday's weather "was a lot hotter" but she hadn't encountered any rain or thunderstorms which could have delayed her progress.

She admitted "I'm getting more and more tired" and has a lot of blisters.

"But eventually everything hurts, so I forget about the blisters."

Friday will be the seventh and final day of Woyce's segment. Because of all the extra miles she logged throughout the week, she's able to leave Hasbrouck Heights at 7:45am. She'll run seven miles to Cliffside Park High School and meet up with the Red Raiders cross country team. Then like the past two years, Woyce, head coach Lindsey Reggo, who has been with her on the MS Run, and the team will run the final seven miles across the George Washington Bridge and finish at Harlem Hospital.
