My name is Lisa Krommenhoek and I am running for the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education this upcoming Election Day. I am asking for your vote and would like to take this opportunity to tell you why I would be an asset to the Hasbrouck Heights Community by becoming a Board of Education Trustee.
For the past 25 years, I have been a passionate and successful educator in both the New Jersey and New York City public schools. I hold two Master’s Degrees in education, one in school administration and the other in early-childhood education. Throughout my career, my mission has always been to be a strong advocate and role model for both students and teachers alike, and to deliver quality education within our public schools.
I have been a resident of Hasbrouck Heights for 20 years, and my husband Thomas is a life-long Aviator. Together, we are the proud parents of two, incredible children; Harris (a seventh grader) and Abigail (a sixth grader) who are currently attending virtual learning at the Hasbrouck Heights Middle School. Our children are involved in many of the wonderful extracurricular activities our schools and town have to offer (band, baseball, cheering, football, soccer, softball and wrestling), and together, we volunteer our time to support these programs and the children who participate in them within our community.
I am currently a Hasbrouck Heights Middle School PTA parent, and for the past few years, I sat on the executive board of the Lincoln School PTA. As a PTA member, I have been actively involved in bringing new programs into our schools that benefit our children and our teachers, and I have happily chaired and co-chaired many events over the years.
One of the accomplishments I am most proud of so far was to ensure equity for all elementary students by spearheading the fundraising events at Lincoln School that raised money to purchase the Smartboards for all classrooms.
Equally important, and even more relevant now with virtual learning, I played an integral role in seeing that the school district’s one-to-one technology initiative to purchase Chromebooks for all students came to fruition.
Last school year, I assisted in securing two Bergen County Utilities Authority grants for both Lincoln School and Euclid School to develop programs that positively impact the environment and educate our children to be more environmentally responsible. The Hasbrouck Heights Schools are continuing to apply for these grants this year to sustain these programs and bring new initiatives into the schools. I will continue to support these grants and serve as a liaison as needed.
Furthermore, these past two school years, I organized and co-chaired the 5th Grade Graduation Pool Parties for all Lincoln School and Euclid School graduates at the Hasbrouck Heights Swim Club. I am proud that this town-wide event was able to happen for our children and my hope is that this event becomes a tradition for all elementary school graduates in the future.
As an elected board member, I will continue to use my educational background, expertise, creativity, innovativeness and leadership skills to be the voice of all stakeholders. I will continue to work diligently towards bettering our schools and the programs we have in place, which in turn, benefits our community and its future residents.
Please consider voting for me this upcoming election and allowing me the opportunity to officially serve our schools and our community.
I thank you in advance for your support!
