“I thought we really played well tonight,”  said Hasbrouck Heights head coach Nick Delcalzo, “Our offense came out strong, and the defense did a great job in the first half shutting them down.”

A quick three-and-out gave the Aviators good field position at their own 45 to start their first drive. Lee capped off an eight play drive with a one yard run up the middle for a touchdown, and the Aviators, following Connor Friedel’s kick, had  7-0 lead with 4:59 remaining in the first.

A second three and out, and a weak New Milford punt saw the Aviators take over at their own 38.  But Steven Faussette quickly put the Aviators into New Milford territory with a 20-yard run, moving the ball to the New Milford 42.

Lee connected with Rocco Minichiello for four yards, and, then on third and five rushed for 19 yards down the New Milford 18.  The Knights defense stiffened, holding the Aviators in check on the next two plays, as the first quarter came to an end. Lee connected with Jake Diaz and Zai’here Jenkins on a pair of passes for a first down at the five, before scoring his second touchdown of the game, to go up 13-0.

New Miford’s offense still had not figured out anything for the Aviators defense, and were forced to punt for a third consecutive series after Indiana Stone sacked New Milford quarterback Jais Juarbe on third down.

This time, the Aviators exploded after getting the ball back, as Lee hit Faussette for a 63-yard pass-and-run to put the ball down at the Knights two yard line. Jenkins powered in, and with 7:53 remaining in the second.

Down 19, and not gaining any traction with their running game, the Knights tried to go the air, but once again, had no success.   In their first four possessions, the Aviators defense had held New Milford to -2 yards of total offense.

One again, the Aviators made short work of the New Milford defense, scoring in just four plays to make it 25-0.  Lee had a 37-yard run, and Faussette dashed for 19, before Hunter Freschi hauled in a Lee pass and barrelled seven yards for the score.

The Aviators went for two, and converted as Lee handed to Jenkins, who gave the ball to Faussette on the reverse, only to have Faussette option pitch the ball back to Lee for the score.

With the Hasbrouck Heights defense playing to keep the big play from happening right before the half, the Knights were finally able to generate some offense, including a Juarbe-to-Tyler Picinic 24-yard pass play.  But the Aviator defense stiffened, turning the Knights over on downs.

After a quick three and out by the Aviators, the Knights picked up one completion before time expired on the first half.  For the first half, the Aviators held New Milford to just 35 total yards in the first half, all in the final two drives.

New Milford finally got on the board in the third quarter, when Juarbe hit Shawn Mastropierro for a 42-yard pass and run for the New Milford score.  Joe Goldschmidt converted the extra point.

The Aviators quickly returned the score, as Lee scored on a 25-run early in the fourth quarter

Notes:  Lee had 305 yards of total offense in the game, completing 12 of 13 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown, while rushing 18 times for 156 yards and three touchdowns.  Faussette carried five times for 52 yards, Minichiello five times for 23, Anthony DiLascio 5 times for 12 yards and Jenkins three times for a 1 yard and a touchdown.
