HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - Senior Victoria Vizzachero’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth inning broke a scoreless tie, as Hasbrouck Heights defeated Paterson Charter 3-0 in the opening round of the NJSIAA Girls Softball Tournament on Monday afternoon at Hitchcock Field in Hasbrouck Heights.

Autumn Thorpe tripled with one out in the bottom of the fifth to get the rally started.  Kimmy Halpin beat out a bunt base hit, to put runners on the corners with one out. Alexa Marinelli then lifted a fly ball to left field that was misplayed, allowing Halpin and Olivia Marinelli to score, and giving some insurance runs and a 3-0 lead.
