GARFIELD, NJ -- The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Garfield Police Department are requesting information from the public about a hit and-run collision that resulted in serious injuries to a pedestrian.

At approximately 7:06 p.m. on Monday, September 17, 2018, the Garfield Police Department received a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in front of 465 MacArthur Avenue. When they arrived at the scene, officers found a male victim lying in the roadway with serious injuries. The victim was treated at the scene and transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

Evidence at the scene, along with surveillance video from the area, indicate that the vehicle is a dark colored 1992-1999 Chevy Suburban. The vehicle is missing the passenger side-view mirror and has possible damage to the right side of the bumper, hood, and windshield. The vehicle fled the scene traveling northbound on MacArthur Avenue.
