TETERBORO, NJ -- Over 100 people were in attendance at the annual Salute to Veterans and 9/11 Memorial Remembrance held Sunday morning at the New Jersey Aviation Hall of Fame and Museum in Teterboro.
Veterans Day is celebrated on November 11 in honor of those who have served in the Armed Forces and gives Americans the opportunity to celebrate the bravery and sacrifices of all U.S. veterans. Originally known as Armistice Day, it was designated by President Woodrow Wilson in 1919.
Also in attendance were Honor Guards representing the United States Navy, Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 800, Bergen County Sheriff's Department, Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department, Civil Air Patrol, New Jersey Wing, Teterboro Composite Squadron, Hasbrouck Heights Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop 17, and Rutherford Cub Scout Pack 168.
Music was provided by the Hasbrouck Heights Marching Band Percussion Section, under the direction of Joseph Ascolese, and members of the Wood-Ridge Junior/Senior High School Glee Club under the direction of Melissa Manolakakis.
Additional support and assistance for the ceremony was provided by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
