WOOD-RIDGE, NJ -- Several Wood-Ridge students and outgoing Board of Education members were recognized at the December meeting on Monday night in the high school auditorium.

The Student of the Month from the Intermediate school was sixth grader Kiara Campo. The Student of the Month for the high school was sophomore Christina Vazquez, who is also a member of the track team. The Student of the Quarter went to eighth grader Thomas Schmidt.

Additionally, it was announced that Alana Marquez had received a full academic scholarship to the University of Chicago.

Two outgoing Board members were also recognized for their years of service. Robert Valenti, Board Vice President who served, 19 years, and Sheila King, who served 12 years, each received plaques.

Valenti thanked the Board members for their support, saying it had been a wonderful experience. He also thanked the parents who regularly attend the meetings.

King also thanked the Board and administration. She added that “as a lifelong Moonachie, resident, she was happy to be accepted by the community” and was honored to serve the children.
