HASBROUCK HEIGHTS. NJ –  Thomas Meli, David Gonzalez, and Lauren Terranova were nominated to replace Councilman Peter Traina on the Hasbrouck Heights Council at Wednesday evenings’ Borough of Hasbrouck Heights Town Council meeting. The nominations came in a form of a letter from current councilwoman Pamela A. Link, who is the Chairwoman of the Hasbrouck Heights Republican County Committee (HHRCC.)

According to the communication, the HHRCC met on December 20 to choose three nominees to fill the vacancy on the Borough Council by Traina’s resignation. Fifteen of the 17 members of the committee were present, and voted through a secret ballot.  All three are Hasbrouck Heights residents and registered Republicans.

Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:16-11, the governing body shall appoint one of the nominees within 30 days of the creation of the vacancy. If the Governing Body fails to do so, the County Committee may reconvene within the following 15 days to appoint one of those nominees as a successor to fill the vacancy.
