TRENTON, NJ - Governor Phil Murphy announced the latest COVID-19 figures from around the New Jersey during his Thursday afternoon press conference held remotely, along with members of his administration, due to his voluntary self-quarantine.

There were 1,182 new cases reported, with 18 new deaths. Statewide, there are 224,385 positive cases and 14,474 deaths, and 1,789 probable COVID-19 fatalities.  

According to Murphy, Bergen County has 24,172 positive cases, and followed by Essex (23,068), Hudson (22,116), Middlesex (21,323), Passaic (20,211), and 428 under investigation.

Essex County again had the highest new cases with 196, followed by Union (119), Hudson (110) and Bergen (107.) 

As of 10 p.m. Wednesday, there were 852 people hospitalized, 628 testing positive and 224 still under investigation. Murphy noted that it had been three months since there were back to back days with over 800 people hospitalized for coronavirus. There were 187 patients in ICU and 74 on ventilators.
