TRENTON, NJ - Governor Phil Murphy announced the latest COVID-19 figures from around the state during his Wednesday afternoon press conference where he also discussed the performance of the state's MVC, the latest travel advisory, high school sports, and the increasing number of overcrowded house parties which is causing the state's new COVID cases to rise.

In New Jersey, there were 489 new cases reported, with 18 new deaths. Statewide, there are 180,766 positive cases and 13,923 deaths, and 1,785 probable COVID-19 deaths, a number that Murphy noted had decreased. 

According to Murphy, Bergen County has 20,391 positive cases, and followed by Hudson (19,430), Essex (19,428), Middlesex (17,615), and Passaic (17,370) with 489 under investigation.

As of 10 p.m. Tuesday, Murphy noted there were 761 patients in the hospital, 361 patients testing positive, and 400 persons under investigation. There are 116 patients were in ICU or critical care, and 49 patients on ventilators, according to the governor.
