HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - While pre-season camps for high school football opened last week, and recreation football on August 1, evidence that high school football is really back will be here this week.
Wood-Ridge kicks off it first scrimmage Tuesday, traveling to Englewood to scrimmage Dwight Morrow. Wednesday, Hasbrouck Heights is scheduled to travel down Route 17 to Rutherford to face the Bulldogs and Wallington, their two opponents in last season’s North Jersey Interscholastic League Bowl series. The Aviators split, the games last year, defeating Wallington, 42-21, before dropping a 14-7 overtime decision to Rutherford.
Saturday both teams have their second scrimmages, as Hasbrouck Heights hosts Cedar Grove, its first round opponent in the state playoffs a season ago, Westwood and Lyndhurst at Depken Field. Wood-Ridge goes back on the road, traveling to play Fort Lee.
Tuesday evening will also be the Borough of Hasbrouck Heights Town Council meeting, at 8 pm in Borough Hall.
Wednesday night, TAPinto Hasbrouck Heights/Wood-Ridge/Teterboro’s editor-in-chief, Faith Ballantine Armonaitis will host a workshop for local community groups and individuals on how to submit news and information directly to TAPinto at the Hasbrouck Heights Library on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education holds its August meeting on Thursday, August 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium.
