Winners of American Legion Second Annual Art/Poster Contest Announced

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ -- A sister duo received first and second place in the Second Annual American Legion Art/Poster Contest held at the Senior Center on Monday afternoon. The event was hosted by members of Hasbrouck Heights American Legion Post 106.

The top five winners each received a certificate, prize money, and a commemorative coin celebrating the American Legion's 100th anniversary. The top five posters can be found on the American Legion's Facebook page. The winners were:

1st Place: Princes Nicdao

3rd Place: Natalija LaPorta

4th Place: Veronica Cerezo

5th Place: Tejasi Thool

The contest was announced in January, and was open to any Hasbrouck Heights high school students in public, private, parochial or home school. The inspiration for the posters was to be the American Legion Post 106 100th anniversary. This was the kickoff event for the 100th anniversary celebration. 

American Legion Commander Michael Cahill opened the ceremony by welcoming parents and students in attendance. Awards were announced by Patrick McCarthy.

Long Beach Island Summer Shuttle No Longer A Free Ride

BRANT BEACH - The Long Beach Island Shuttle, an extremely popular service for visitors and residents of Long Beach Island, will have a fee for the first time beginning Memorial Day weekend.

Bateman Bill, “ Bijou’s Law”, to Require Training, Licensing for Pet Groomers

TRENTON, NJ - State Sen. Christopher "Kip" Bateman (R-16) will introduce legislation to increase protections for family pets by requiring pet groomers to be properly trained and licensed following the deaths of three dogs in five months at different New Jersey pet salons. .
