WOOD-RIDGE, NJ -- After honoring Manny Carcano for his 30 years of service with the Wood-Ridge Auxiliary Police Department, and swearing in Oscar Sabillon, the Auxiliary Police's newest member, Wood-Ridge Borough had a light agenda for its meeting.

ORDINANCE NO.: 2019-7 (2019 Salaries) AN ORDINANCE TO FIX THE SALARY, WAGES AND COMPENSATION OF THE OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE BOROUGH OF WOOD-RIDGE, COUNTY OF BERGEN, STATE OF NEW JERSEY.

Ordinance No. 2019-5 (Short Term Rentals), an ordinance amending sections of Chapter 530 entitled Zoning, was adjourned to the May 15 Council meeting. Mayor Paul Sarlo stated the ordinance needed to be first referred to the Planning Board to approve at the May 7 meeting.

Additional Resolutions adopted included:

074-2019 Resolution Endorsing Open Space Trust Fund Application for Wood-Ridge Square Park
075-2019 Resolution Appointing Community Development Representatives.
076-2019 Resolution Authorizing Mayor to Execute Contract with Cliffhanger Productions for Event Production and Management Services Including
Rides, Amusements and Entertainment for Wood-Ridge Town Day

Borough Administrator Chris Eilert explained that Wood-Ridge Square Park will be a one-half to two-thirds acre of land along Marshall Lane. It will be considered a passive park, with no swings or activities, just grassy areas and seating, and maybe a focal point such as a fountain.

Also, the Council announced the resignation of Mark Musella as the Wood-Ridge Public Defender effective May 13, 2019, and  appointment of John J. Bruno Jr. as Public Defender and Jonathan Bruno as Alternate Public Defender effective May 13, 2019.

The official announcement of the open space and recreation plan, including playing fields, for Wesmont Station is scheduled for Monday, June 3 at 7:30pm in the auditorium at Wood-Ridge High School.
