WOOD-RIDGE, NJ -- Wood-Ridge Cub Scout Pack 183 held its annual Pinewood Derby race on Sunday afternoon surrounded by shiny, new cars at a local car dealership.

This is the third year that the Wood-Ridge Pack has partnered with East Coast Toyota in hosting the event, according to Jeffrey Magnusson, Committee Chairman. Almost three dozen cars entered to race down the electronically-timed track that was also live streamed on the internet. Parents and siblings raced in their own divisions as well. The race was supervised by Cubmaster Matt Jenove and Magnusson.

They will go on to represent the Pack in the District Derby on Saturday, April 7, at the Secaucus Recreation Center.

The Pinewood Derby is the premier Cub Scout event.  Millions of Cub Scouts have built and raced Pinewood Derby cars since 1953. According to the Boy Scouts of America website, the goals of the Pinewood Derby is Sportsmanship and good citizenship, personal achievement, and family understanding.
