WOOD-RIDGE, NJ - Wood-Ridge Pack 183 celebrated the 90th year of Cub Scouting at their annual Blue and Gold Banquet at The Fiesta in Wood-Ridge, on Sunday, February 9.

This was followed by the Presentation of the Colors, Pledge of Allegiance and the Scout Oath.
The annual wreath sale winners we announced, with the Pack selling over 800 wreaths this year. The biggest sellers this year were Ryan (80), Alasdair and Gavin (99) and William (113.) Wreaths have been sold by Pack 183 Cub Scouts since the 1950's and help fund their program for the year.
Awards of advancement and achievement were presented to all the ranks: Lions, Tigers, Wolves, Bears, WEBELOs and Arrow of Light. A special ceremony was performed for the Bobcat rank; the very first rank in Cub Scouts for new members.

The Arrow of Light is the highest rank in Cub Scouts, which is worn on the Boy Scout uniform when the Scout bridges to the Troop. The Scout must complete four mandatory "Adventures" called Building a Better World, Duty to God in Action, Outdoor Adventurer, and Scouting Adventure, as well as one elective, plus earn the Cyber Chip for their age group. These newest Boy Scouts will now begin their path to Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouting.
Chef Mark provided the entertainment this year, by making homemade mozzarella with the Scouts, their siblings and parents. Close to 60 pounds of mozzarella was made.
The day ended as door prizes were given out to the families of the Pack. Local businesses from around Wood-Ridge provided gift certificates and gift baskets.
The next event for the borough's Cub Scouts will be the annual Pinewood Derby which will be held later in March.
