MOONACHIE, NJ -- Seven Wood-Ridge High School girls' soccer players were honored on Friday afternoon at Pomponio Field in Moonachie as they played their final home game. They went out in style, with a 5-0 victory over Weehawken.
The girls were honored at halftime and after the game, and presented with flowers and gifts by the team. The captains, Carly Cook, Amy Camacho and Melanie Izurieta address the crowd and thanked the younger players for making their final season a positive experience.
Seniors Amanda Donohue, Sabrina Elkeshk, Gabriella Guerriero and Alyssa Matos were also honored during the halftime ceremony.
Emily Gardella scored two goals, while Gia Cannarozzi, Kaylyn Coppola, Natalie Cala each scored goals. Cook had two assists. Goalkeepers Angela Picheo and Shaye Whaley each had one save a piece in the combined shutout.
