“I appreciate the Mayor and the Council members who are with us today in helping us bolster our police department, so we can take the next step forward with our new officers coming aboard,” said Korin.  “As you can see, it is a testimony that having all the firemen, police officers and ladies and gentlemen who are here to support you.

“You have a big brotherhood that is here with the fire department,” Korin continued, “And if you look to the left you have another brotherhood here now in blue.”

“We got to see him, Chief got to see, Chris (Borough Administrator Chris Eilert) got to see him, giving him leadership roles at the DPW, literally as a summer intern,’ said Mayor Sarlo.  “That is important when you are a college student. Also, the work that he has done for the fire department, and the input we got from the leadership of the fire department, as to how as young man they trust him.

“Our town,” Sarlo continued. “We like to build from the bottom and bring people from the bottom up and from our families in town.”

With Donato’s appointment, he will become the 24th member of the Wood-Ridge Police Department on active duty.
