WOOD-RIDGE, NJ - The first Little Free Library in Wood-Ridge was vandalized over the weekend, according to one of its trustees.

The specially-created etched door was broken at some point over the weekend, said Kris Amels, who helped bring the free-standing free library to the borough in July. A report has been filed with the Wood-Ridge Police Department, who are investigating, she said.

"Little Free Libraries promote literacy and community," said Kris Amels, steward of the Wood-Ridge Public Education Foundation's ( Little Free Library board. "Sadly, we experienced vandalism and our specially made etched door was destroyed. Please help us care for this community resource by using it and keeping an eye on it. The Bergen Tech Green Building Trades students will donate their time and expertise to repair the damage."
