Dear Hasbrouck Heights Residents and Voters,
My name is Lisa Krommenhoek and I am running for the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education this upcoming Election Day, November 5th, and I am asking for your vote.
I have been a resident of Hasbrouck Heights for almost 20 years, and my husband Thomas is a life-long Aviator. Together, we are the proud parents of two, incredible children, Harris (a sixth grader) and Abigail (a fifth grader) who happily attend the Hasbrouck Heights public schools. Our children are involved in many of the wonderful extracurricular activities our schools and town have to offer (band, baseball, cheer, football, soccer, softball and wrestling), and together, we volunteer our time to support these programs within our community.
I currently sit on the executive board of the Lincoln School PTA and I have been actively involved in bringing new programs into our schools that benefit our children and our teachers.
One of the accomplishments I am most proud of so far has been spearheading the Techfest and Fun Run events at Lincoln School to raise money to purchase Smartboards for all classrooms.
Equally important, I played an integral role in seeing that the district‘s one-to-one technology initiative to purchase Chromebooks for all students in grades 3-12 came to fruition.
This past spring, I was able to secure two Bergen County Utilities Authority grants for both Lincoln School and Euclid School for this current school year to develop programs that will positively impact the environment and educate our children to be more environmentally responsible.
Furthermore, this past school year, I co-chaired the very first 5th Grade Graduation Pool Party for all Lincoln School and Euclid School graduates at the Hasbrouck Heights Swim Club. Moving forward, my hope is for this to become a tradition for all elementary school graduates.
In addition, I was chosen to participate in the district’s Strategic Planning Committee for the past year to focus on analyzing and improving the programs and systems that are currently in place in our schools.
I hold two Master’s Degrees in education, one in school administration and the second in early-childhood education. For over 20 years, I have been a passionate educator, an advocate for students and teachers, and a strong supporter of our public schools.
As an elected board member, I will continue to use my background, expertise, creativity and leadership skills to be the voice of all stakeholders and work diligently towards continuing to better our schools, which in turn, will benefit our community.
Please consider voting for me this upcoming election and allowing me the opportunity to serve our schools and our community.
I thank you in advance for your support!
