HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - The Hasbrouck Heights Middle School Drama Club will present "The Jungle Book," a play based on the life of Rudyard Kipling. Show times are Wednesday, December 11 and Thursday, December 12 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets sold at the door of the Kiefer Auditorium. Adults $5 and Students $3.
Dress rehearsal is 12:00 on Wednesday, December 11, which is a free matinee for Senior Citizens.
Teacher Paula Jacobs again helms the district's theater productions. There are 42 middle school students in the cast, 23 middle school students in the crew and 23 high school volunteers. Additionally, 41 Theater Performance/Production students from Jacob's classes serve as the production team, selecting props, costumes, designing makeup and contributing to casting decisions, according to Jacobs.
The process began in September. The students have had rehearsals twice per week after school. This version is not a musical, but according to Jacobs "we do have a few surprises for song and dance fans in the audience."
"I selected "The Jungle Book" because it was able to accommodate a large cast, enabling any students who want to be on stage to have a chance to participate," she said. "Additionally, it is a family friendly show with a story and characters that are beloved by many generations."
Editor's Note: The Senior Citizen matinee is Wednesday, December 11 at 12noon, not December 12.
