HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ -- The Interstellar Galactic Space Adventure did not disappoint the hundreds of people who attended the annual summer event at the Free Public Library in Hasbrouck Heights on Friday night

Parents and children explored the universe, visiting the stars. Mars, the moon and even encountered some asteroids and space invaders at the 13th annual Summer Bash. 

According to Mimi Hui, Director, there were over 300 people in attendance, and 60 people signed up for the sleepover.

Family friendly activities a presentation by Franklin Institute Travel Science Show which also conducted experiments. Wildlife Educator Joe D’Angeli presented some exotic animals including hissing cockroaches, a tarantula named Miss Fluffy, a Australian bearded dragon, a tortoise, and Madagascar flying fox bats. 

Space Educator Joe Lennox celebrated the 50th anniversary of the moon landing and a talk on the planet Mars and the six rover missions, that originally launched in 1996 with SoJourner and continues today with the Mars Phoenix rover.

A Galactic Arcade allowed gamers to test their skills on classic arcade games like Space Invaders and Asteroids. Student volunteers manned the creativity stations, helping youngsters made arts and crafts projects to take home. There was even a scavenger hunt to find the lost planets.

Night owls enjoyed the late night screening of “Captain Marvel," while others snuggled into their sleeping bags and blankets for the sleepover.
