ANNVILLE, PA. - When you get carried off the field on the shoulders of your jubilant teammates, you definitely are someone that deserves consideration for Athlete of the Week. When further review of the circumstances say that you had just scored:
- Your third touchdown of the game,
- In double overtime,
- After rushing for a career-high 137 yards,
- In your final college football game as a Senior,
- And have already been named your Conference Player of the Week.
You get to add TAPinto Hasbrouck Heights/Wood-Ridge/Teterboro Athlete of the Week to your collection of accolades.
That is what Hasbrouck Heights’ Steven Salerno accomplished, leading Lebanon Valley to 30-24 victory over Albright on Saturday afternoon.
As a result of the victory, it is a Lebanon Valley tradition that, if the football team defeats Albright, on Monday the student body, led by the football team, will march to the President of the University’s home and ask for a full-day off from school the day before Thanksgiving.
That was granted. (But only after turning down the request for the whole week off, but it can't hurt to ask.)
