WOOD-RIDGE, NJ - By the virtue of being the last team standing, the Wood-Ridge Boys Basketball team is the Athlete of the Week for the Week of March 3 to March 9.  The team captured the North 1, Group 1 Boys Basketball Championship on Tuesday Night with a thrilling 52-47 come-from behind victory over Paterson Charter on March 5th to capture their first State Sectional Crown since 2011.

The Blue Devils scored the game's final 12 points to capture the victory for head coach Jimmy Maher. 

The win advanced the Blue Devils into a match-up with New Providence, coming out on the short end of a 62-42 decision.

The Blue Devils, seeded fourth in the North 1, Group 1 bracket, made the final by defeatiing Saddle Brook, Emerson and top-seeded Bogota to advance to play Paterson Charter.  The Blue Devils finished in a tie for second with Hasbrouck Heights behind Paterson Charter in the regular season, and handed the Lions their only regular season Meadowlands Division loss, opening night in Wood-RIdge.

The Blue Devils ended the season with a 20-10 overall record.
