TRENTON, NJ - Governor Phil Murphy announced the newest number of presumptive positive cases of novel coronavirus and deaths at his Friday afternoon press conference. In Bergen County, Hackensack has passed Teaneck as the municipality with the most cases in the county.

There were 3,250 new cases with 323 new deaths. Statewide, there are 78,467 positive cases and 3,840 deaths in total as of Thursday. 

Bergen County Executive James Tedesco announced that there are 11,864 presumptive positive cases in the county as of 12 noon Friday. Locally, Hasbrouck Heights has 142 cases, Wood-Ridge 94 cases, and Teterboro 3 cases. Hackensack now has the most cases in Bergen County with 836, according to Tedesco.

The Governor announced Bergen County continues to lead the state in cases with 11,863, and followed by Essex (9,672), Hudson (9,636), Union (8,429), Passaic (7,604) and Middlesex (7,308.)  There are a total of 714 deaths in Bergen County.

Judith Persichilli, Department of Health Commissioner, noted that there are 8,011 people hospitalized with COVID-19 or under investigation. Of those 1,961 are in critical care, and 1,594 of those people are on ventilators.

She noted that as of 10 p.m. on Thursday, 787 people were discharged from hospitals.  And since March 31, 8,878 COVID patients or persons under investigation have been discharged.

As of Friday, the two Medical Field Stations had 90 patients: Secaucus 64, and Edison 26. Persichilli said that a local Secaucus hotel was being used for convalescence care, after a patient is out of quarantine but before going home. And rooms are also being used by healthcare professionals.

Persichilli said that 143,450 tests have been administered with a 44.94% positive rate.
